President Donald Trump said Friday he’s meeting in the Situation Room “now” to make a “final determination” on a deal with Iran that would mark a significant breakthrough in nearing an end to the conflict.

Trump said he is “meeting now, in the Situation Room, to make a final determination” on a deal that would extend the ceasefire for 60 days and reopen the Strait of Hormuz, he wrote on Truth Social.

Trump laid out his terms for an agreement, including Iran agreeing “they will never have a Nuclear Weapon or Bomb,” ceasing tolls in the Strait of Hormuz, removing underwater mines in the strait and allowing the U.S. to remove Iran’s remaining enriched uranium.

The U.S. would, in turn, lift its naval blockade on ships coming in and out of Iran, Trump said.

Trump’s announcement comes after U.S. officials said Thursday negotiators reached a tentative agreement earlier in the week, pending approval from leadership on both sides.

Iran has not publicly commented on the details of the agreement, or whether it plans to accept, but the speaker of Iran’s Parliament and its lead negotiator, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said Friday in a post on X Iran has “no trust in guarantees or words—only actions are the measure.”
