The Atlanta Braves have emerged as the best team in all of baseball and they’ll continue to shuffle the roster to ensure it stays that way.

As the team looks to return to the postseason and make a deep run despite suffering numerous injuries, it has cycled through a significant number of players already. And now, with star catcher Drake Baldwin sidelined with an oblique problem just after Ronald Acuna Jr. returned from the injured list, the team has made some more moves.

“Atlanta, which has been without veteran catcher Sean Murphy most of the season, is recalling Chadwick Tromp to replace Baldwin on the active roster,” Bob Nightengale reported for USA Today. “Atlanta also shook up its bullpen by designating veteran reliever Aaron Bummer for assignment, optioning rookie JR Ritchie to the minors, calling up Victor Mederos from Triple-A Gwinnett and activating Dylan Dodd from the injured list.”

Former Atlanta Braves Pitcher Leaves MLB Shortly After Roster Cut

As the Braves continue to win despite the revolving door to the roster, the team has now gotten news that another one of its big-league castoffs from this season has left Major League Baseball entirely.

“The (Chicago) White Sox have released Osvaldo Bido to pursue playing opportunities in Japan,” Chicago Sports Network’s Brookie Fletcher reported.

Bido joined the Braves as a waiver claim last year before being quickly designated for assignment, hopping around and then returning to the Braves just before Opening Day. He made six appearances for the Braves and logged a 6.30 ERA this season before the Braves cast him off of the big-league roster yet again.

Atlanta Braves’ Former Pitcher Osvaldo Bido Pursuing Career In Japan

The White Sox claimed him off of waivers and he made five appearances before being designated for assignment again. Now it appears he is more interested in pursuing an opportunity in Japan’s Nippon Professional Baseball league.

“Japan’s Nippon Professional Baseball has been fairly pitcher-friendly in recent years, so perhaps a stint there is a good landing spot for Bido,” Darragh McDonald wrote for MLB Trade Rumors. “If he gets back on track and puts up some good numbers, he can try to return to North American ball in the future.”

Before he joined the Braves earlier this year, Bido had accrued some significant and promising big-league experience. He made his debut for the Pittsburgh Pirates in 2023 and his best season came with the Athletics the next year when he maintained a 3.41 ERA while pitching more than 63 total innings and starting nine games. If he can flash that form again while pitching overseas, he should find another big-league opportunity soon.
