Katy Perry Sees Both A Single And An Album Climb To New C...

Katy Perry Performs In Bologna

Katy Perry currently appears on four Billboard charts in America. One album lives on two tallies dedicated to full-lengths and EPs, while a popular single by the pop superstar lands on a pair of rankings that focus only on the most successful tunes in the world. On almost every one of those rosters, the Grammy-nominated musician sees her currently-charting titles climb to new high points, even though both the album and the song are far from new.

“The One That Got Away” Climbs Billboard’s Global Charts

Perry’s “The One That Got Away” advances yet again on both the Billboard Global 200 and Billboard Global Excl. U.S. The first of those two rankings details the 200 most popular songs all around the world using both sales and streaming data. The Billboard Global Excl. U.S. does the same, though all consumption metrics connected to American consumers are left out of its methodology, as the chart’s aim is to show what the rest of the world is listening to.

In just its fourth turn on either roster, “The One That Got Away” establishes a new peak position. On the Billboard Global 200, the track climbs five pegs to No. 91. It grows even more dramatically on the Billboard Global Excl. U.S., where last frame it sat at No. 106. Now, “The One That Got Away” breaks into the upper half of the list and makes a home at No. 94.

“The One That Got Away” Ranks Among Katy Perry’s Biggest Hits

Throughout her career, Perry has racked up half a dozen wins on both the Billboard Global 200 and Billboard Global Excl. U.S. The tallies were introduced long after many of her biggest hits came and went on the charts, and like so many other celebrity musicians, she has only managed a surprisingly few successes due to this fact.

On the Billboard Global Excl. U.S., “The One That Got Away” stands as Perry’s third-highest-rising single, behind “Woman’s World” and “Cozy Little Christmas.” On the Billboard Global 200, “The One That Got Away” trails “Cozy Little Christmas,” “Woman’s World,” and “When I’m Gone,” a collaboration with electronic dance producer Alesso.

“The One That Got Away” Extended Her Teenage Dream Era

“The One That Got Away” served as the sixth and final single from Perry’s masterpiece, Teenage Dream. The first five cuts that were promoted from the project all reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, making Teenage Dream only the second full-length in history, behind Michael Jackson’s Bad, to send a quintet of tunes all the way to the summit.

That streak ended when “The One That Got Away” stalled at No. 3. Recently, the song has gone viral, and Perry has dolled out an EP of remixes, as well as a director’s cut of the original music video, hoping to turn the decade-plus-old composition into a global hit all over again.

Katy Perry’s Teenage Dream Climbs to a New Streaming High

Thanks to all the attention being paid to “The One That Got Away,” Teenage Dream is also on the rise. That collection flies three spaces north on the Top Streaming Albums chart, which ranks the most-played full-lengths and EPs on platforms like Spotify, Apple Music, Tidal, and others throughout the U.S.

Perry has only scored one appearance, as Teenage Dream debuted on the roster last July. Since then, the Grammy-nominated LP has only managed six turns on the roster, and this frame, it sits higher than ever as it lands at No. 44.

Teenage Dream can also be found on the Billboard 200, the chart company’s most competitive albums roster. While it’s unusual for Teenage Dream to make space on the Top Streaming Albums tally – or nearly any other Billboard ranking for that matter – the same cannot be said for the Billboard 200, where continued streams and at least minor sales ensure that one of the most successful pop releases of all time never disappears. This frame, Teenage Dream jumps from No. 55 to No. 51, though that’s still far from No. 1, where it debuted. Teenage Dream is up to 467 turns on that rundown, making it one of the longest-running albums by a female artist.
