Katy Perry The Lifetimes Tour 2025

Katy Perry's The Ones That Got the Plays compilation earns the singer her second top 10 on one chart in the U.K. as it debuts. For several weeks now, Katy Perry's song "The One That Got Away" has been rising on charts globally. The tune, originally released as a single from her blockbuster album Teenage Dream more than a decade ago, went viral suddenly, and the singer didn't miss a beat when it came to making the most of the moment.

She quickly released a director's cut of the music video, and then later an EP of several singles titled Thinking of the One That Got Away, which is, of course, centered around "The One That Got Away." More recently, the Grammy-nominated pop star dropped a compilation – something of a greatest hits – titled The Ones That Got the Plays. The set features 22 of her biggest hits, and "The One That Got Away" is the opening cut.

That project launches on a pair of charts in the United Kingdom, while both Teenage Dream and "The One That Got Away" rise to never-before-seen highs on different rankings.

Katy Perry’s The Ones That Got the Plays Debuts Inside the Top 10

The Ones That Got the Plays becomes an immediate top 10 success on one of the two U.K. tallies where it launches this frame. The compilation opens at No. 7 on the Official Albums Streaming chart, which details the 100 most-played releases of any genre or any length on platforms like Spotify, Apple Music and others. Amazingly, it is the loftiest debut this frame.

Katy Perry Scores Her Second Career Top 10

Perry scores her second appearance inside the top 10 on the Official Albums Streaming chart as The Ones That Got the Plays debuts. Her 2017 release Witness peaked at No. 5, and since then, none of her releases – even Witness follow-up Smile – cracked the top 10.

The Ones That Got the Plays Narrowly Misses the Top 10

The Ones That Got the Plays also performs well enough to reach the Official Albums chart, a consumption roster. On that tally, Perry's latest nearly misses out on the highest tier as it opens at lucky No. 13.

While The Ones That Got the Plays immediately becomes one of the pop icon's highest-rising successes on the streaming-only tally, it marks a new low for her on the Official Albums list. Only her debut full-length One of the Boys, which turned her into a household name all around the world nearly two decades ago, also failed to spend even one frame between Nos. 1 and 10. That project topped out at No. 11. Her five subsequent albums – Teenage Dream, Prism, Witness, Smile and 143 – all became top 10 wins, with both Teenage Dream and Prism spending one week apiece running the show.

Katy Perry Beats Neil Diamond and Chris Brown

Despite being Perry's lowest-peaking project on the Official Albums chart, The Ones That Got the Plays earns one of the more impressive debuts this time around. The singer scores the third-highest-ranking entry, behind only 25 — The Ultimate Collection by boy band Westlife and Is This How Happiness Feels? from Reverend and the Makers. Those new efforts open at Nos. 2 and 7, respectively. Perry manages to beat debuts from acts like Basement, Chris Brown and Neil Diamond, among several others.

"The One That Got Away" Continues to Rise

The Ones That Got the Plays is powered by nearly two dozen hits, but of course the focus at the moment is on "The One That Got Away." That song hits a new high of No. 55 on the Official Streaming chart. Last week, it debuted at No. 73. At the same time, the song improves from No. 41 to No. 30 on the Official Singles chart, though that does not mark a more impressive placement than ever before. In the past, the cut has climbed to No. 18.

Perry fills two spaces on both the Official Albums and Official Albums Streaming charts this week. As The Ones That Got the Plays debuts, Teenage Dream establishes a new high of No. 27 on the streaming-only tally and lifts three slots to No. 36 on the main albums ranking.
