There’s still no word yet on when Lana Del Rey’s upcoming album Stove will finally be released. The project has been teased for years, and the singer-songwriter herself has changed both its street date and title multiple times. Several singles from the set have already dropped, but there’s no word yet on when the effort will be completed.
Del Rey recently released a song titled “First Light,” which may hold some fans over for the time being. The track serves as the theme song and a promotional tool for a new James Bond video game of the same name. As is the case with seemingly everything Del Rey shares, “First Light” becomes a hit on several of Billboard’s genre-focused charts and even earns the Grammy nominee another top 10 smash.
Of the trio of tallies where “First Light” appears for the first time this week, it only manages to crack the top 10 on one of them. Del Rey returns to the highest tier on the Alternative Digital Song Sales chart, where the cut opens at No. 9.
Del Rey scores her milestone twenty-fifth top 10 smash on the Alternative Digital Song Sales chart as “First Light” arrives. The track ties three others – “Summer Bummer” with both A$AP Rocky and Playboi Carti, “Bluebird,” and “Did You Know That There’s a Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd,” the title track from her album of the same name – by stalling at No. 9.
Included in Del Rey’s 25 top 10 successes are just two No. 1s, and neither one managed to rule for more than a single frame. “High by the Beach” brought Del Rey to the peak position for the first time more than a decade ago, in the summer of 2015. Less than two years later, “Love” launched in the same position.
The Alternative Digital Song Sales chart, the list of the top-selling tracks in that style on platforms like iTunes, Amazon, and others, features just 10 spaces these days. This week, three of those slots are occupied by arrivals.
The highest-ranking entry belongs to MGKMGK – formerly known as Machine Gun Kelly – and Limp Bizkit frontman Fred Durst. Their collaboration, “Fix Ur Face,” fails to topple “Dracula” by Tame Impala and Jennie and instead opens in second place. “First Light” settles just one spot ahead of “Closer” by Nine Inch Nails and Boys Noize, which debuts in last place, at No. 10.
It’s only been a few months since Del Rey scored a new top 10 hit on the Alternative Digital Song Sales chart. “White Feather Hawk Tail Deer Hunter” debuted on the ranking dated February 28. The following week, it climbed to No. 8, hitting its all-time high, and then it slipped away. Two additionaly tracks from the upcoming Stove, “Bluebird” and “Henry, Come On,” reached the top 10 on the roster last year.
In addition to being a sales smash, “First Light” also manages to launch on a pair of Billboard’s “Hot” rankings, those that show the most-consumed tracks in any one style using a mix of purchases, streams, and airplay data in order to do so. “First Light” starts highest on the Hot Alternative Songs tally, where it begins at No. 22. Coincidentally, Del Rey scores her twenty-second appearance on the list with her latest single.

“First Light” also manages to place at No. 27 on the Hot Rock & Alternative Songs chart. Del Rey has proved significantly more successful on that ranking, where she is nearing 60 smashes – a figure she may reach whenever Stove finally arrives.
