Later this month, Paul McCartney will release The Boys of Dungeon Lane, his twentieth solo album, and his first in more than half a decade. The former Beatle began promoting the set earlier this spring with "Days We Left Behind," and more recently he chose "Home to Us" as the album's second single. That latter cut debuts on multiple charts in the United Kingdom this week, thanks not only to McCartney's star power, but the fact that his former bandmate, Ringo Starr, is officially credited on the cut. As McCartney adds to his growing list of bestselling tunes, he helps Starr appear on one competitive roster in their home country for the first time.
"Home to Us" narrowly fails to become a top 40 smash as it launches on the Official Singles Downloads chart, the detailed list of the 100 top-selling tracks of any style via download storefronts, such as iTunes, throughout the U.K. The McCartney/Starr collaboration opens at No. 42.
"Home to Us" brings Starr to the Official Singles Downloads chart for the first time on his own. As one-quarter of the Beatles, he's already racked up 16 hits. Counted among them are quite a few tunes that have surged to loftier positions than where "Home to Us" opens this frame. The Beatles even collected a No. 1 in the fall of 2023 with "Now and Then."
McCartney earns his milestone tenth bestseller on the Official Singles Downloads chart. While "Home to Us" immediately becomes Starr's highest-rising success on the tally, the team up is not one of McCartney's biggest successes. In fact, it's not even the bestselling tune from The Boys of Dungeon Lane.

Earlier this spring, "Days We Left Behind" climbed to No. 17. "Home to Us" is one of McCartney's worst performers, and his collection includes a pair of top 10s. He nearly summited the tally a decade ago with "FourFiveSeconds," a collaboration with both Rihanna and Ye – then known as Kanye West. That unlikely hit song peaked at No. 2, while McCartney's own "The Long and Winding Road" stopped at No. 5.
As "Home to Us" earns Starr his first top-performing download in the U.K., the song becomes his fifth solo hit on the Official Singles Sales chart. That list includes downloads as well as purchases of individual tracks on CD, cassette and vinyl.
Somewhat surprisingly, "Home to Us" marks a career low for Starr, even though it is clearly one of his most successful downloads. Its No. 45 starting point is one space beneath where "Let's Change the World" peaked back in 2021. Several other cuts by Starr, including "Rewind Forward," "Crooked Boy" and "World Go Round," worked their way to Nos. 11, 26 and 30, respectively.
McCartney has racked up just over twice as many placements on the Official Singles Sales chart as his longtime friend. "Home to Us" marks his eleventh trip to the ranking of the bestselling tracks in the country, and just like on the downloads tally, it marks his second trip to the ranking this year.
