WWE Backlash 2026 was a long time coming for Bron Breakker and Seth Rollins.
In October 2025, Rollins suffered a torn rotator cuff at Crown Jewel, was forced to relinquish the World Heavyweight Championship and was kicked out of The Vision. Rollins’ replacement as the group’s unofficial leader was Breakker, who also suffered a major injury and was sidelined in February, causing him to miss most of WrestleMania season.
So, when a returning Rollins faced Gunther at WrestleMania 42, Breakker returned as well, costing his nemesis the match against “The Ring General,” and now, here we are. Rollins finally got his hands on Breakker at WWE Backlash 2026 after a rollercoaster ride to get there.

Breakker, the new face of the Vision, can now add one major accomplishment to his resume: beating the original leader of the faction.
At WWE Backlash in Tampa, Breakker defeated his former leader Seth Rollin after an interference-filled match that had the Tampa crowd on its feet. The finish came when Rollins nearly secured a victory but met his end after a pair of rib-splitting spears. Not only did that win mark the biggest singles victory in Breakker’s young career, but it also stands out as another key loss for Rollins.

Here are the key moments and top highlights from Breakker’s victory over Rollins at WWE Backlash 2026:
WWE found itself between a rock and a hard place at Backlash 2026. Rollins needed a win after his WrestleMania loss to Gunther, and yet, so did the returning Breakker.
As it turns out, however, WWE went with the most logical outcome of Breakker win via underhanded tactics after Heyman, Theory and Paul interfered and helped Breakker beat his arch-nemesis. That was the easy out in what was a difficult booking scenario, but it also just so happened to be the most logical way to book the first match of what should be an extended feud. Because, rest assured, this rivalry isn’t done, not by a long shot.
It came as quite the shocker when WWE stuck with Rollins vs. Gunther at WrestleMania 42 despite Breakker reportedly being cleared to wrestle. But WWE was able to effectively utilize the Gunther vs. Rollins match to add heat to the lengthy rivalry between Breakker and Rollins.
Their feud has been bizarrely booked through no fault of their own. Rollins was off TV for months, and so was Breakker, which forced WWE to build this rivalry via Gunther, Paul Heyman and The Vision. Now, however, both Breakker and Rollins are healthy, and WWE has all the necessary ingredients to cook up something great.
Breakker won the first battle at WWE Backlash, but after just one match, this feud is far from over. In the end, this rivalry should be a defining one for Breakker, who’s still relatively new to the main roster. Yet, pro wrestling booking 101 suggests WWE fans can expect a trifecta of matches, with the babyface (in this case Rollins) ultimately winning in the end.
While Breakker is standing tall after WWE Backlash, a rematch should be coming soon, and in all likelihood, the rematch won’t be the end of it either.
