April is “Earth Month” as awareness for environmental sustainability becomes a primary focus in a world that is trying to maintain a positive future ecologically. The Green Sports Alliance (GSA) includes some of the most important and influential properties in sports including among others FOX Sports, American Express, Coca-Cola, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, the Los Angeles Dodgers and Formula 1 Miami, just to name a few.

Chip Ganassi Racing is the latest entity to join the GSA as the NTT IndyCar Series and INDY NXT By Firestone operation pledges to operate for a green future.

CGR joined the GSA earlier this month.

It is an important step in the team’s ongoing sustainability efforts and reinforces its commitment to sustainability leadership both on and off track to kick off Earth Month.

As a founding member of Green Operations & Leadership (GOAL), Chip Ganassi Racing is committed to embedding sustainable practices across its operations. Joining the Green Sports Alliance broadens the team’s network, resources, and ability to collaborate with like-minded teams, venues, and organizations across the sports industry.

“Becoming part of the Green Sports Alliance is a key step in achieving our goals,” said John Olguin, Executive Vice President of Business Operations, Chip Ganassi Racing. “Sustainability is about discipline. If you can build cars, teams, and systems that last, using every resource smarter, waste less and adapt faster, you give yourself the best chance to win more races. We want to be a team that thinks long-term, giving us the best chances to win each weekend and into the future.”

Chip Ganassi Racing’s Focus On A Greener World

Chip Ganassi Racing has made meaningful strides in sustainability, including expanded recycling programs, reductions in single-use plastics, and a strong focus on employee health and well-being. These efforts have positioned the team as a leader within the paddock, with a continued commitment to finding innovative ways to operate more responsibly.

MORE FOR YOU

Joining the Green Sports Alliance enhances the team’s ability to share best practices, gain new insights, and ability to collaborate with organizations that share a common goal of using sport as a platform for positive environmental and social impact. Chip Ganassi Racing looks forward to leveraging the collective knowledge and collaboration of both GOAL and GSA to further advance sustainability across motorsports and the broader sports community.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Chip Ganassi Racing to the Green Sports Alliance at a moment when leadership in motorsports matters more than ever,” said Michael Kraus, Interim Executive Director, Green Sports Alliance. “Chip Ganassi Racing’s legacy of innovation, performance, and continuous improvement make them a natural fit for our community. As reigning Indianapolis 500 winners and 17-time IndyCar Series champions, CGR brings credibility, influence, and a clear commitment to using their global platform to inspire more sustainable practices across racing, business, and the communities they touch.”
