Back in March, Miley Cyrus looked into her past and revisited Hannah Montana, the character that helped launched her career in the entertainment world. The Disney Channel TV series made her not only a successful actress, but also a singer, and it is that path that she has followed in the 20 years since it first aired.

As part of the Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary Special, Cyrus wrote and recorded a new song titled “Younger You.” That cut became a quick hit on a number of Billboard charts, but after the initial excitement wore off, the tune largely disappeared.

Recently, Cyrus teamed up with Lainey Wilson and leaned into the country twang of “Younger You,” turning it into a collaboration and a genre favorite. Sales of the cut grew thanks to its re-release, and this week, “Younger You” earns Cyrus another top 10 smash on one tally in America.

Miley Cyrus and Lainey Wilson’s “Younger You” Debuts

On the current edition of the Country Digital Song Sales chart, Billboard’s look at the top-selling country cuts in the nation, “Younger You” debuts at No. 5, and it is now credited as a duet with Wilson. Her version is clearly the better-selling, and thus both women are named on the track.

“Younger You” earns the loftiest start of the frame on the genre-focused sales list, beating arrivals from country acts like Cody Johnson, Riley Green, and even Dolly Parton, Cyrus’s own godmother.

Miley Cyrus Earns Her Third Country Sales Top 10 Smash

“Younger You” becomes Cyrus’s third appearance between Nos. 1 and 10 on the Country Digital Song Sales chart. Notably, two of those tunes are collaborations with Wilson.

Cyrus reached No. 1 for the first – and so far only – time back in January of this year, with "Light of a Clear Blue Morning." Parton recruited Cyrus as well as Wilson, Queen Latifah, and Reba McEntire to put a new spin on the single she originally released back in 1977, and it immediately debuted atop the Country Digital Song Sales roster.

Cyrus’s team-up with Beyoncé, “Two Most Wanted,” which won both women a Grammy, launched and topped out at No. 3 two years ago. Looking at the full breadth of the Country Digital Song Sales chart, Cyrus counts five wins in her discography. A reworking of her pop standard “Wrecking Ball,” fronted by Parton for her album Rockstar, spent one week at No. 13. Cyrus’s “The Climb” stalled in that same space more than a decade prior.

Lainey Wilson Has Outpaced Her Collaboration Partner

At the same time that Cyrus earns her third top 10 on the Country Digital Song Sales tally, Wilson collects her seventeenth. That group includes a trio of No. 1s, including the aforementioned “Light of a Clear Blue Morning,” as well as two automobile-themed smashes: her own “Heart Like a Truck” and “Wait in the Truck,” fronted by songwriter and producer Hardy.

“Younger You” Returns to the Billboard Hot 100

Purchases of “Younger You” rose after the Wilson re-recording was shared with the public, though she only claims credit on the track on one of the half dozen Billboard charts on which the track is present. “Younger You” returns to both the Digital Song Sales list (No. 21) and the Billboard Hot 100 (No. 77), appearing for just the second time. Cyrus stands alone on those run registers, even though Wilson’s collaboration helped make the cut popular again.

“Younger You” Climbs at Pop Radio

“Younger You” may now be a country hit, but when it comes to radio, the single is being promoted to pop stations, This week, “Younger You” holds at its all-time high of No. 23 on the Adult Pop Airplay tally, dips one space to No. 30 – down from its No. 29 peak – on the Pop Airplay chart, and surges to a new lofty position, No. 15, on the Adult Contemporary rundown.
