Madonna

Madonna scores her second career No. 1 on Billboard's Dance Digital Song sales chart as "I Feel So Free," the first tune from Confessions II, launches atop the ranking. Madonna helped bring the dance floor to the masses decades ago, and while she has experimented with many different styles of music throughout her lengthy career, dance music has always been paramount to her success. The icon is headed toward the release of her upcoming album, Confessions II, her fifteenth full-length and the sequel to Confessions on a Dance Floor. The title reunites her with Stuart Price, and another collection of electronic bangers is expected this summer.

Madonna hyped the public for Confessions II with the first song shared from the project, “I Feel So Free,” which, expectedly, becomes a big hit on several of Billboard’s dance charts. “I Feel So Free” has been welcomed so warmly that it even manages to launch at No. 1 on a roster the singer has only conquered once before.

Madonna’s “I Feel So Free” Debuts at No. 1

Madonna doubles her total number of rulers on the Dance Digital Song Sales chart as “I Feel So Free” arrives. Previously, she had only made it to the loftiest space on Billboard’s ranking of the bestselling dance and electronic tracks in the U.S. via platforms like iTunes with “Vulgar,” her collaboration with Sam Smith. That tune debuted atop the list in June 2023 and then vanished, spending just one frame on the tally.

Madonna’s History on the Dance Sales Chart

Madonna has collected a total of 23 appearances on the Dance Digital Song Sales chart, with her run beginning more than half a decade ago, in 2010. Multiple smashes, such as “Hung Up,” “Frozen,” and “Ray of Light,” debuted at the same time, but it’s in the past few years that Madonna has enjoyed her greatest successes on the rundown. “I Feel So Free” marks her tenth top 10.

Here are all of Madonna’s top 10 smashes on the Dance Digital Song Sales chart.

  • "Bitch I'm Madonna" with Nicki Minaj
  • "Frozen" with Sickick
  • "Gone Gone Gone (Original Demo Version)"
  • "I Feel So Free"
  • "Levitating"
  • "Living For Love"
  • "Me Against The Music" with Britney Spears
  • "Vogue"
  • "Vulgar" with Sam Smith
  • "Who's That Girl"

Madonna Charted New Hits in 2024 and 2025 as Well

While Madonna has not released a new album since 2019’s Madame X, she has scored multiple hits on the Dance Digital Song Sales chart since then. In fact, it’s been less than a year since one of the bestselling artists of all time earned not only another debut on the roster, but a top 10.

Last summer, “Gone Gone Gone (Original Demo Version)” spent one week at No. 8. The previous July, “Who’s That Girl” came in at No. 9, and similarly managed a single stint on the ranking.

“I Feel So Free” Lands on Multiple Billboard Charts

“I Feel So Free” lands on four Billboard charts this week, and purchases are largely to thank for its quick success. The track opens inside the top 10 on half of all of the rosters where it debuts.

In addition to the Dance Digital Song Sales chart, “I Feel So Free” arrives in sixth place on the Digital Song Sales tally, which works in the same manner as the dance-focused rundown, though the more competitive of the two is not centered around just one style. “I Feel So Free” comes in just beneath the top 10 on both the Hot Dance/Pop Songs and Dance/Mix Show Airplay lists, entering those rankings at Nos. 12 and 14, respectively.
