Ella Langley's "Choosin' Texas" passes Dan + Shay and Justin Bieber's "10,000 Hours" as one of the longest-running Hot Country Songs chart No. 1s of all time. For the second week in a row, Ella Langley commands the Billboard 200 with her sophomore album Dandelion. The full-length launched at No. 1 last frame, earning the singer-songwriter her first champion on the most competitive ranking of full-lengths and EPs in the United States.

Just days ago, Langley made history as one of the only country artists to sit at No. 1 on both the Billboard 200 and Billboard Hot 100 at the same time. She doesn’t quite manage that showing again, even as she rules the albums tally, as "Choosin' Texas," one of the biggest hits of the year, slips slightly on the ranking of the most popular songs in the nation. Even as "Choosin' Texas" cedes control over the Billboard Hot 100 to Olivia Rodrigo’s “Drop Dead,” which debuts at No. 1, Langley claims the biggest smash on the Hot Country Songs chart, where "Choosin' Texas" dominates again. The song advances on the list of the longest-running rulers ever and breaks a tie with one of the most successful pop acts as well.

"Choosin’ Texas" Makes Hot Country Songs Chart History

"Choosin' Texas" is steady atop the Hot Country Songs chart, Billboard’s list of the most-consumed tracks that can be classified under that genre label. That tally, like every one that begins with the word “Hot” published by Billboard, ranks tunes based on three consumption metrics: sales, streams, and radio airplay. "Choosin' Texas" has now spent 22 of its 27 frames on the rundown in first place.

Ella Langley Passes Justin Bieber’s Country Smash

With one more turn at the summit to its credit, "Choosin' Texas" breaks out of a tie with “10,000 Hours,” the Grammy-winning collaboration between Dan + Shay and Justin Bieber. Between 2019 and 2020, that track spent 21 weeks as the biggest country cut in the U.S. Now "Choosin' Texas" stands alone as the eighth-longest-running hit in the roster’s decades-long history, while “10,000 Hours” slips to ninth place.

Ella Langley May Match Florida Georgia Line Soon

If "Choosin' Texas" can hang on for two more periods at No. 1 – which seems entirely plausible based on how popular the song remains – Langley will match another two smashes. Walker Hayes kept “Fancy Like” at No. 1 for 24 weeks, and nearly a decade earlier, Florida Georgia Line managed the same showing with “Cruise.” Those are impressive runs in the loftiest slot, but they pale in comparison to the sturdiest No. 1 of all time.

Florida Georgia Line – the duo claims two of the biggest country singles ever – joined Bebe Rexha on “Meant to Be,” which commanded the tally for a historic 50 weeks starting in 2017.

Here are the longest-running No. 1s on the Hot Country Songs chart.

  • 50 weeks - Bebe Rexha and Florida Georgia Line - "Meant To Be"
  • 45 weeks - Shaboozey - "A Bar Song (Tipsy)"
  • 34 weeks - Sam Hunt - "Body Like a Back Road"
  • 27 weeks - Gabby Barrett - "I Hope"
  • 25 weeks - Morgan Wallen - "Last Night"
  • 24 weeks - Walker Hayes - "Fancy Like"
  • 24 weeks - Florida Georgia Line - "Cruise"
  • 22 weeks - Ella Langley - "Choosin’ Texas"

Ella Langley’s "Choosin’ Texas" Still Leads Multiple Charts

While "Choosin' Texas" is no longer the biggest single in America, it does manage to live at No. 1 on a trio of Billboard charts – and all of them are focused entirely on country music. In addition to the Hot Country Songs tally, "Choosin' Texas" also once again leads both the Country Streaming Songs and Country Digital Song Sales registers. The cut sits in second place on both the Billboard Hot 100 and the Digital Song Sales chart, two rankings it has ruled multiple times before.

Ella Langley Keeps Herself From Scoring a New No. 1

Langley occupies the top two slots on the Hot Country Songs chart for another frame. At the same time that "Choosin' Texas" keeps its hold at No. 1, “Be Her” is steady at its all-time high of No. 2. Further down, but still inside the loftiest space, come “Loving Life Again” and “Bottom of Your Boots,” which dip to Nos. 8 and 9, respectively.
