There wasn’t a hugely successful woman named Olivia in pop music for many years after Olivia Newton-John’s career waned. Perhaps the name simply wasn’t popular in the decades between her run and Olivia Rodrigo’s ascent to superstardom, or maybe no other artists with that moniker happened to break out and score multiple smashes.
Whatever the reason, there are now two women named Olivia dominating the airwaves and ruling charts in countries like the United States and the United Kingdom. Olivia Dean first became well known in the U.K., and her most recent album, The Art Of Loving, powered by singles like “Man I Need,” “Nice To Each Other,” and “So Easy (To Fall In Love),” has turned her into a chart-topper and a worldwide sensation.
This frame in the U.K., on the Official Singles chart, the main ranking of the most popular songs in that nation, one Olivia takes over for another at the top spot in what may very well be a chart first.
Dean returns to the summit on the Official Singles chart with “Rein Me In,” her collaboration with Sam Fender. The song was originally a solo affair, featured on his latest album, People Watching, but when it was released as a single last summer, Dean hopped on board a remix. It is that version that has become a smash in a number of nations. “Rein Me In” backtracked from No. 1 on the Official Singles chart last frame and hits No. 2, but now it’s back in charge.
Just days ago, Rodrigo collected another champion on the Official Singles chart with “Drop Dead,” the first taste of her forthcoming third solo album, You Seem Pretty Sad For A Girl So In Love. The tune debuted in the penthouse, but it looks like it may only manage one frame ruling as this time around, “Drop Dead” slips one peg to No. 2.
As of this period, “Rein Me In” has spent nine weeks at No. 1 on the Official Singles chart in the U.K. across three separate runs. The track first surged to the loftiest space in late February and held there for three weeks. Dean and Fender stepped off the throne as “American Girls” by Harry Styles, the second single from his latest album, Kiss All The Time. Disco, Occasionally, launched atop the tally.
Then, just days later, “Rein Me In” was back at No. 1, and it earned another five turns in the peak position before relenting to Rodrigo’s “Drop Dead.” Notably, “Rein Me In” cracked the top 10 on the Official Singles chart in July 2025 in only its second week on the roster, and it required more than half a year before it found its way to No. 1.
“Rein Me In” surges back to the penthouse on both the Official Singles and Official Streaming charts. The tune is a top 10 bestseller once more on the Official Singles Downloads (No. 6) and Official Singles Sales tallies (No. 7) as well.
“Rein Me In” also reappears on both the Official Vinyl Singles and Official Physical Singles charts now that those rosters are freed up from a deluge of Record Store Day-related releases. On the vinyl-only ranking, “Rein Me In” is back at No. 29, and it comes in just three spaces beneath that position on the Official Physical Singles list.
“Drop Dead” manages to earn a second turn inside the top 10 on four of the five U.K. charts where it appears. It lives within that region on the Official Singles, Official Streaming, Official Singles Sales, and Official Singles Downloads tallies, though it declines on all of them. “Drop Dead” does slips outside of the top 10, from No. 4 to No. 12, on the Official Physical Singles rundown after arriving in fourth place a few days ago.
