Real Madrid hasn’t forgotten about trying to sign Michael Olise from Bayern Munich and has already been in contact with the Bavarians regarding the potential transfer according to Mundo Deportivo, which cited anonymous sources and various other reports.
Another Real Madrid star in Kylian Mbappe stole the headlines at the World Cup on Tuesday. Yet also important in the Group I, 3-1 win for France over Senegal was Olise, who played a fantastic through ball for Mbappe to slot home Les Bleus’ opener.
Reaching the Champions League semifinals and lifting the Bundesliga, Olise rose to become one of the planet’s most highly-rated right wingers this season alongside FC Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal.
Lamine is out of reach to Madrid for obvious reasons. Yet while reports first broke of Perez wanting Olise after Bayern saw Madrid off in the UCL quarterfinals and since cooled, they’ve now re-emerged.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Perez hasn’t forgotten about Olise amid rehiring Jose Mourinho and making a number of new signings including Manchester City legend Bernardo Silva announced Wednesday morning.
On the successful road to re-election, Perez promised a $175 million bid after being voted in again by Real Madrid members.
Perez kept his word. As we now know, the subject of the offer knocked back by Atletico Madrid was Julian Alvarez. Yet there is a common belief that the real intended target of the most expensive offer in Real Madrid’s history is Olise.
In short, Perez hasn’t forgotten about the Frenchman with a Premier League history, and intends to try and sign him again this summer.
Bayern will be reluctant to let Olise go and has repeatedly insisted they aren’t a selling club. But there are already reports about contact with the Bavarians from the Spanish capital, as well as Olise’s representatives.
Signing Bernardo Silva at one point in the Portuguese’s storied career would have made another right winger surplus to requirements. At the Bernabeu, however, there’s room for both players under Mourinho in 2026.
Silva is most likely to play the more central midfield and CAM positions for Real Madrid, while Olise can take a spot that hasn’t been nailed down by a disappointing Franco Mastantuono or Rodrygo, who suffered a season-ending ACL injury last term.
