Megadeth’s 30-Year-Old Album Becomes A Sudden Bestseller

Megadeth Visits SiriusXM Nashville

Megadeth's Hidden Treasures compilation, originally released in 1995, becomes a late-in-career bestseller in the U.K. thanks to Record Store Day. Earlier this year, Megadeth released its self-titled seventeenth album, which the band has made clear will be its last. The group is planning on touring the project, perhaps for several years, so fans of the rockers have time to see the musicians play live one more time before finally saying goodbye.

Months after Megadeth became a major commercial success – it even earned the outfit its first No. 1 in America – a decades-old collection becomes a bestseller in the United Kingdom, debuting on several charts and rising to a new high on one ranking.

Megadeth’s Hidden Treasures Debuts on Several Sales Charts

Hidden Treasures appears for the first time on two tallies in the U.K., and it manages to start in the exact same spot on both of them. The project launches at No. 83 on the Official Albums Sales and Official Physical Albums charts simultaneously.

Megadeth’s Total Number of U.K. Bestsellers

Megadeth now counts half a dozen appearances on the Official Albums Sales chart, a U.K.-based ranking that looks only at the top-selling titles with no restrictions when it comes to genre or format. Digital downloads, CDs, cassettes, and vinyl all factor into where a project lands.

MORE FOR YOU

The group has scored an additional 10 winners on the Official Physical Albums chart. That roster operates in almost exactly the same way as the Official Albums Sales rundown, except purchases on storefronts like iTunes and Amazon are excluded.

Megadeth Nearly Hit No. 1 Only a Few Months Ago

It's been just a few months since Megadeth scored a debut on the two tallies where Hidden Treasures launches this frame. On the chart dated February 5, the band's self-titled goodbye record entered at No. 2, narrowly missing out on becoming the group's first No. 1 on either roster. The second-place peak that Megadeth managed ties it with The Sick, the Dying... and the Dead!, the band's previous most recent arrival, which also stalled at No. 2 back in 2022.

Megadeth’s Hidden Treasures Reaches a Rock Chart Peak

Thanks to an increase in purchases, Hidden Treasures also finds its way back to the Official Rock and Metal Albums chart. That sales rundown looks only at collections in those genres, and it is the tally where Megadeth has enjoyed its greatest successes.

This frame, Hidden Treasures breaks back onto the chart at No. 8. That marks a new high for the title, and the rockers collect another top 10 winner, their fifteenth overall.

Here are all of Megadeth’s top 10s on the Official Rock and Metal Albums chart.

Hidden Treasures Returns After Nearly Two Decades

Hidden Treasures appears on the Official Rock and Metal Albums chart for only the second time. What was then an EP landed on the list in May 2007, when it debuted at No. 29. The project spent just one frame before slipping away, and it had to wait nearly two decades before finding its way back.

Megadeth’s Hidden Treasures Re-Released for Record Store Day

Originally released in 1995, the compilation EP features a number of songs by Megadeth that were originally shared on soundtracks and tribute collections, as there are a number of covers. Megadeth re-released Hidden Treasures for Record Store Day, adding four songs and offering it on vinyl, now as a complete album for the first time.
