Acasis FlowCore Multi-Bay SSD Enclosures Are Made For AI And 8K Video

Acasis FlowCore

The new Acasis FlowCore enclosure lineup consists of the TB504, a 4-bay enclosure and the TB504 Pro, a 10-bay version for high-end applications like video editing. In addition, Acasis is also launching the TB504 Air, a 40Gbps entry-level enclosure using Thunderbolt 4.

ACASIS

Storage specialist Acasis has launched its new FlowCore series of 80Gbps Pro Storage enclosures on Kickstarter today. The new enclosures can deliver 80Gbps NVMe performance and are designed specifically for use with AI applications, local LLM and 8K video workflows while providing maximum speed across every bay.

Acasis has been carving out a reputation for itself by producing high-performance Thunderbolt storage solutions. Today, the brand officially launches a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter to finance the FlowCore series of Thunderbolt enclosures.

The enclosures have been designed to tackle storage bottlenecks currently being experienced by many AI developers, on-premises LLM users, video creators and IT professionals who need to manage large-scale local data workflows effectively and efficiently.

AI And Content Creation

With the rapid growth of large AI models, on-premises LLMs, massive datasets and 8K video production, there’s an enormous demand for high-speed storage solutions with high capacities. AI has impacted the current cost of SSD storage because data centers for AI are being built around the world and the demand for storage has soared. These conditions have created a perfect storm for anyone with the job of managing professional data workflows.

MORE FOR YOU

Traditional multi-bay storage systems traditionally rely on shared bandwidth architectures, which can mean slower speeds as more drives are added to a system simultaneously. The Acasis FlowCore Series of 80Gbps Pro Storage has been engineered to solve that problem by using an independent, full-speed bandwidth architecture leveraging the speeds offered by Thunderbolt 5.

The new Acasis enclosure lineup consists of the TB504, a 4-bay enclosure and the TB504 Pro, a 10-bay version for high-end applications like video editing. In addition, Acasis is also launching the TB504 Air, a 40Gbps entry-level enclosure using Thunderbolt 4. However, both the TB504 and TB504 Pro are built on Thunderbolt 5 technology and designed to provide up to 80Gbps of dedicated bandwidth access per M.2 NVMe bay.

Independent Bandwidth Architecture

Acasis claims that the FlowCore Series 80Gbps Pro Storage is the world’s first multi-bay Thunderbolt storage designed to overcome the limitations of shared-bandwidth architectures. Each M.2 NVMe bay is capable of independently accessing the full 80Gbps bandwidth offered by Thunderbolt 5. This enables users to read and write from multiple drives without the speed reductions commonly associated with shared architectures.

The Acasis FlowCore enclosures are manufactered from a CNC milled aluminum block which acts as a giant fanless heatsink. This is the 4-bay model. The device is extremely heavy because it's a solid block of aluminum functioning as a heatsink to conduct away heat from the SSDs.

ACASIS

In real-world testing, the Acasis FlowCore system has managed sustained read and write speeds of more than 6,000MB/s per drive, depending on the SSD used, supporting high-speed parallel workflows. The architecture is suitable for local AI model loading and inference, including 70B and 405B parameter models. The enclosures are also suitable for dataset preprocessing and RAG workflows, as well as multi-stream 8K RAW video editing and large-scale media asset management.

The bays inside each of the new enclosures can accommodate M.2 NVMe SSDs in 2230, 2242, 2260, and 2280 form factors. The TB504 can support up to 32TB of total storage, while the TB504 Pro can handle up to 80TB of total storage. This provides users with scalable local storage for AI datasets, production archives or high-resolution media libraries.

Silent And Expandable

The FlowCore Series is essentially a solid block of CNC-machined aluminum alloy with large passive cooling fins. It’s a hefty enclosure that functions as a giant passive heat sink for efficient thermal management. The enclosure doesn’t have a fan and is completely silent in operation, making it suitable for use in recording studios, editing suites, shared offices and AI workstations where low noise levels and thermal stability are essential.

In real-world testing, the Acasis FlowCore system has managed sustained read and write speeds of more than 6,000MB/s per drive, depending on the SSD used, supporting high-speed parallel workflows.

ACASIS

The system also includes downstream 80Gbps Thunderbolt 5 expansion ports, as well as support for dual 8K/60Hz display outputs, enabling users to build fully integrated professional workstations with high-speed storage, display connectivity and data transfer in a single enclosure.

Professional AI and Creative Environments

The Acasis FlowCore Series is optimized for professional applications, including AI training and inference, local LLM deployment, 8K multi-camera editing, photography workflow and high-speed secure local storage. For video professionals, the system can support real-time editing, caching and playback of multiple 8K RAW video sources.

The enclosures are Direct Attached Storage devices and able to support software RAID configurations, including RAID 0 for maximum performance, RAID 1 for redundancy and data protection or RAID 10 for a balance of speed and reliability. Alternatively, each bay can be configured as standalone storage volumes or a mixture, with some of the bays operating as RAID devices.

It’s this sort of flexibility that enables users of the FlowCore system to tailor storage performance and redundancy to suit individual workflow requirements. Acasis claims its FlowCore series is likely to attract a broad range of professional users looking for fast, quiet and scalable local storage. Following the Kickstarterlaunch, customers and partners can expect further details on final availability, configuration options and campaign milestones.

The Acasis FlowCore enclosure range consists of three models.
