GoPro Mission 1
GoPro
GoPro announced its new GoPro Mission 1 series of action cameras last week and has now revealed their prices.
No surprise considering the spec leap on offer, the GoPro Mission 1 cameras are more expensive than the existing $429.99 GoPro Hero Black. The standard Mission 1 costs $599.99, the Mission 1 Pro $699.99.
Those with a GoPro Premium subscription can get $100 off these prices. And for this initial period, GoPro throws in a Point-and-Shoot Grip case.
The base GoPro Mission 1 costs $200 more than the Hero 13 Black did at its 2024 release date — its price increased by $30 in August 2025.
Some good news: the upcoming GoPro Mission 1 Pro ILS costs $699.99, just like the ordinary Pro version. It takes Micro Four-Thirds lenses, meaning you end up trading a lens for a mount, but as potentially a more versatile pro-grade tool it’s not unrealistic to have expected to pay more for it.
Do these prices represent a good deal? The naming alone suggests GoPro wants you to consider the Mission 1 family something other than a simply continuation of the Black series.
Its major upgrades include support for 8K resolution capture rather than 5.3K, improved 20ATM water resistance, a larger 50-megapixel 1-inch sensor and new GP3 processor.
A fair deal for the money? From GoPro’s rivals you could pick up the $549.99 Insta360 x5, but DJI doesn’t yet have something quite like the Mission 1 in its arsenal.
The DJI Osmo Action 6, for example, taps out at 4K resolution but is substantially cheaper at $426.
GoPro does appear to be attempting to raise the bar for mainstream action cameras, but with reviews yet to drop it’s not clear yet how successful the initial Mission 1 duo has been.
The official line at present is the GoPro Mission 1 will begin shipping on or before May 28.
