Not only is it 2XP Friday, a day when you get to double your points if you play Competitive Wordle, it’s also the first of May. Happy new month, Wordlers! May is Working class history month. In the Catholic tradition, it’s the month of the Blessed Virgin Mary. It’s a whole bunch of other things as well, like Celiac Awareness Month, Borderline personality disorder awareness month and Skin Cancer Awareness Month. It’s also Bike Month and National Golf Month and Jewish Heritage Month and the list goes on and on.
Spring is in full bloom and summer beckons. School is almost out and students everywhere are crunching for finals. We, on the other hand, are just taking it easy solving word puzzles. Let’s solve today’s Wordle, shall we?

Yesterday’s Custom Wordle Answer: HAWK
Wordle is a daily word puzzle game where your goal is to guess a hidden five-letter word in six tries or fewer. After each guess, the game gives feedback to help you get closer to the answer:
Use these clues to narrow down your guesses. Every day brings a new word, and everyone around the world is trying to solve the same puzzle. Some Wordlers also play Competitive Wordle against friends, family, the Wordle Bot or even against me, your humble narrator. See rules for Competitive Wordle toward the end of this post.
Okay, spoilers below! The answer is coming!

Every day I check Wordle Bot to help analyze my guessing game. You can check your Wordle score with Wordle Bot right here.
I almost guessed SLATE because I was being lazy and copying the Wordle Bot but then I thought I should just make it a bit different and went with PLATE instead. Who knew it would be such a lucky guess? Only two words remained, but I could only come up with PLUME. I guess PLEBE was the other one. Never even crossed my mind. Nor did it matter, since PLUME was the Wordle!

I get 2 points for guessing in three and 1 point for beating the Bot. Since it’s 2XP Friday, that totals 6 points. Not too shabby! The Bot gets 1 for guessing in three but loses it immediately for losing to me. Lucky for the Bot, 0x2 is still 0. Our May totals start with a rather impressive gap:
Erik: 6 points
Wordle Bot: 0 points
“Plume” comes from Latin plūma (“feather”), via Old French plume.
It originally meant a feather, especially a decorative one, and later came to mean things like a feathered ornament, a rising cloud (of smoke or vapor), or something that spreads out like feathers.
