Wordle is a daily word puzzle game where your goal is to guess a hidden five-letter word in six tries or fewer. After each guess, the game gives feedback to help you get closer to the answer:
Use these clues to narrow down your guesses. Every day brings a new word, and everyone around the world is trying to solve the same puzzle. Some Wordlers also play Competitive Wordle against friends, family, the Wordle Bot or even against me, your humble narrator. See rules for Competitive Wordle toward the end of this post.

Every day I check Wordle Bot to help analyze my guessing game. You can check your Wordle score with Wordle Bot right here.
TRIAL was a great opener, leaving me with just 38 words though all I knew is I had a green “T” in the first box. I decided to try all new letters for my second guess, and HOMES slashed that number down to 6. I took a wild guess with TOKEN and got lucky!

Alas, the Bot also got lucky. We each get 1 point for guessing in three and 0 for tying. Our June totals inch forward:
Erik: 9 points
Wordle Bot: 10 points
“Token” comes from Old English tācen, meaning “sign, mark, symbol, or evidence.” It derives from a Proto-Germanic root meaning “to show or indicate.” The word has long referred to something that stands for or points to something else, whether a sign, a keepsake, or, today, a digital credential.
