Margot's Got Money Troubles
Apple
I maintain that there is no streaming service that gives you more bang for your buck than Apple TV, which has the best batting average in the business for quality shows. Sure, it produces far less content than its rivals, but what it does put out? It's probably worth watching 70-80% of the time. And such is the case with Elle Fanning’s new series, Margot’s Got Money Troubles.
As it stands, with a dozen and a half reviews in, Margot’s Got Money Troubles has a perfect 100% Rotten Tomatoes score from critics, which, even for Apple shows, is a rarity. Elle Fanning is coming off a recent Oscar nomination for her role in Sentimental Value, and this is her first major role since 2023’s The Great, another stellar series which boasts a 96% on Rotten Tomatoes. Her career arc over the last few years has been ascendant, clearly.

What’s the show about? Here’s the official synopsis:
“The daughter of a former Hooter's waitress and an ex-pro wrestler, Margo is a recent college dropout and aspiring writer; faced with a new baby, mounting pile of bills and dwindling number of ways to pay them, Margo must find a way forward.”
The “find a way forward” ends up being setting up an OnlyFans account, the (mostly) R/X-rated website where you can earn money from patrons for sexy content distribution. Interestingly, that mirrors a plotline from Sunday night’s Euphoria, where Sydney Sweeney’s character is going to do OnlyFans though not to support a baby, but to…earn $50,000 to pay for wedding flowers. Needless to say, Euphoria does not have a 100% score this season.
There is additional Elle Fanning news today, as a new trailer for The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping dropped, where Fanning plays a young Effie Trinket, a role she practically got through fancasting. That movie is not out until November 20, 2026, but Margot’s Got Money Troubles arrives this Wednesday, April 15 on Apple. A notable, upcoming Fanning project involves another Fanning, her sister, Dakota, where the two are filming The Nightingale together, an adaptation of a Kristin Hannah book where two sisters have their lives torn apart as World War II begins in France.
Will Margot’s Got Money Troubles end up landing Elle Fanning an Emmy nomination, given all her past awards nominations? Well, she got one for The Great in 2022, so it certainly seems possible, if not likely, given her scores and her recent actual Oscar nomination. At just 28, her career is ascending rapidly, and she looks to be a force in the industry for a long time to come. Margot’s Got Money Troubles drops Wednesday.
