How to solve today's Wordle.

I hope all you fine Wordlers are having a lovely and lazy first Sunday of May. Or at the very least getting ready to celebrate May 4th, aka Star Wars Day. Then again, Star Wars has lost a lot of its luster. The bloom is off the rose, as it were, and unless Disney can really turn things around, I suspect it will stay that way until some creative genius can revive the IP. I do have high hopes for The Mandalorian & Grogu which hits theaters later this month, but when it comes to Star Wars, I’m an old hand at crushed hopes.
In any case, we have a Wordle to solve. Shall we?

Today’s Bonus Custom Wordle is 6 letters long.

The clue: This Wordle has a double letter.

Wordle is a daily word puzzle game where your goal is to guess a hidden five-letter word in six tries or fewer. After each guess, the game gives feedback to help you get closer to the answer:
Use these clues to narrow down your guesses. Every day brings a new word, and everyone around the world is trying to solve the same puzzle. Some Wordlers also play Competitive Wordle against friends, family, the Wordle Bot or even against me, your humble narrator. See rules for Competitive Wordle toward the end of this post.
Okay, spoilers below! The answer is coming!

PEACH was a strong opening guess today, leaving me with just 49 words and a green “P.” With no vowels, I tried a word that had lots, but IRONY only got me a green “Y” and left me with six words to choose from. I tried to come up with a word that had as many letters from the words I could come up with as possible and chose FIGHT (I assumed the answer would have a “U” so I didn’t really need to use that) which left me with just one: PUFFY for the win!

The Bot and I tied today which means 0 points and 0 points for guessing in four. Our May totals remain:
Erik: 7 points
Wordle Bot: 1 point
“Puff” is a 16th-century sound-imitating word for a burst of air. So “puffy” means swollen or expanded like a puff.
