The Post-Game Content For ‘Pragmata’ Is A Lot Of Fun

Pragmata

The new skins you unlock from completing the 'Unknown Signal' missions.

Now that Pragmata is finally out and people have been playing it, I thought I’d talk a bit about the post-game content.

The big addition after finishing the game is the unlocking of “New Game +” modes and a more challenging difficulty. You also get an all-new area to investigate, called “Unknown Signal”.

Upon entering, you meet a giant Cabin robot who has been looking after this special area full of new simulator missions created by a mysterious “Architect”.

While some of these simulator missions are playable straight away, there are some that have to be unlocked by fighting tougher (red) versions of the bosses from the other areas of the game.

Weirdly, even though these are meant to be post-game challenges, I found these extra simulator missions much easier than the Training Missions, many of which are very technical.

In fact, I was able to finish all of the Unknown Signal missions on my first try, except for the last one, and I only messed up right at the end against the two Sentinels.

In short, I forgot to set one of them to Confuse and attack the other, giving me the option to finish them off one at a time, making the fight a lot more manageable.

Upon finishing the Unknown Signal missions, you unlock the Obisidia and Black Neon skins for Hugh and Diana, respectively, as well as some other nice bonuses.

One of these bonuses is a new Black Box mod, which also tackles Dead Filament, which, if you know the story, means that finishing the game again with this mod equipped unlocks a new ending, which I obviously won’t spoil.

Personally, I love the new skins and think the mecha design in this game is genuinely top-notch.

It’s also worth mentioning here that Shoji Kawamori was also involved in Pragmata’s world-building, and it really shows. There are a lot of clever and imaginative ideas woven throughout the game, and the fact that Kawamori had a hand in that makes a lot of sense.

The final point I feel I should highlight is that even though the game sold a million units in two days, it’s been in development for a really long time and has a credits list of over 1,200 people.

I obviously love the game a lot and want it to do well, but I feel that the game needs to sell an awful lot more to break even.
