1,065hp Lamborghini Fenomeno Roadster Is Brand’s Most Potent Open Top

Lamborghini's Fenomeno Roadster combines a screaming V12 with three electric motors.

Hybrid supercars keep getting more extreme. Lamborghini has unveiled the Fenomeno Roadster, a 1,065hp hybrid hypercar the company says is the most powerful open-top model in its history. Revealed during the second Lamborghini Arena event at Italy’s Imola circuit, the ultra-exclusive Lamborghini Fenomeno Roadster continues the Italian automaker’s “Few-Off” strategy (as opposed to “One-Off”) of ultra-low-volume collector cars while also underscoring Lamborghini’s increasingly electrified future.

Lamborghini Fenomeno Roadster: If You Haven’t Ordered One Now, It’s Too Late

Only 15 examples of the Fenomeno Roadster will be built, making it even rarer than the Fenomeno coupe introduced during Monterey Car Week in 2025. Lamborghini says all units have already been allocated to hand-selected customers, many of whom are longstanding collectors with extensive portfolios from the brand. That made the launch event more of a show than a marketing announcement.

The new roadster combines Lamborghini’s naturally aspirated 6.5-liter V12 with a hybrid system using three motors from the UK’s YASA, producing a combined 1,080 CV, or approximately 1,065 horsepower. That output eclipses previous open-top Lamborghinis including the Sián Roadster and places the Fenomeno Roadster among the most powerful production convertibles ever made.

Lamborghini claims the car can accelerate from 0-62 mph in 2.4 seconds and exceed 211 mph. The hybrid drivetrain is derived from the architecture introduced with the Revuelto plug-in hybrid supercar, although the Fenomeno Roadster receives bespoke chassis and aerodynamic modifications, making heavy use of carbon fiber to reduce weight.

MORE FOR YOU

The Fenomeno Roadster launch demonstrates how Lamborghini is applying electrification not merely to improve efficiency or meet emissions regulations, but to push performance to unprecedented levels. While many luxury brands are transitioning toward fully electric drivetrains, Lamborghini continues to emphasize hybridized internal combustion powertrains built around its signature V12 engine.

That strategy reflects a broader industry trend among exotic performance manufacturers. Ferrari, McLaren and Porsche have all adopted hybrid systems for their flagship supercars in recent years, using electric motors to enhance acceleration and responsiveness while preserving the emotional appeal of combustion engines. Even hypercar brand Bugatti has opted for a hybrid drivetrain for its Tourbillon, successor to the Chiron, dropping the latter’s turbochargers for a naturally aspirated V16.

For Lamborghini, the Fenomeno Roadster also represents the latest evolution of a limited-production lineage that stretches back to the Reventón Roadster in 2009. Subsequent “Few-Off” models included the Veneno Roadster, Centenario Roadster and Sián Roadster, each produced in extremely small numbers and serving as design and technology showcases for the Sant’Agata Bolognese manufacturer.

Carbon Fiber Lamborghini Fenomeno Roadster Sculpture

The Fenomeno Roadster continues the “Few-Off” tradition with an aggressively sculpted carbon-fiber body featuring dramatic aerodynamic elements, sharp surfacing and an elongated rear section designed to improve downforce. Lamborghini design chief Mitja Borkert said the company wanted the car to have an instantly recognizable silhouette inspired by iconic aircraft.

Although based partly on the Revuelto platform, the Fenomeno Roadster features substantial engineering revisions. Lamborghini says the front and rear subframes are entirely new, while the carbon-fiber monocoque has been adapted specifically for the open-top configuration. Additional structural reinforcement and rollover protection were required after removing the roof, although the company claims the weight increase compared with the coupe is minimal.

The hybrid system itself reflects Lamborghini’s evolving electrification strategy. The Revuelto introduced the company’s first series-production V12 plug-in hybrid setup, pairing a naturally aspirated engine with three electric motors and a compact battery pack. The Fenomeno Roadster expands on that formula with even greater total output and more extreme performance calibration.

Unlike many battery-electric performance carmakers, however, Lamborghini continues to prioritize high-revving combustion engines and emotional driving engagement. The company has repeatedly argued that hybrid technology currently offers the best compromise between emissions compliance and preserving the visceral character customers expect from the brand.

The interior follows many of Lamborghini's current ergonomic design cues.

Lamborghini

That approach contrasts with the broader transition occurring across the automotive industry. Several mainstream luxury brands are accelerating plans for fully electric lineups, while some performance marques are experimenting with synthetic fuels and hybrid systems as transitional technologies. Lamborghini itself has confirmed that its first fully electric model will arrive later this decade, but the company appears determined to keep combustion engines alive in its flagship supercars for as long as regulations permit. This is despite the fact that the fastest production car in the world, the amusingly named YANGWANG U9 Xtreme, is an all-electric vehicle.

The Fenomeno Roadster also highlights the growing profitability of ultra-exclusive collector models in the luxury automotive sector. Limited-run hypercars have become increasingly important revenue generators and brand-building tools for companies such as Lamborghini, Ferrari and Bugatti. Production numbers are intentionally tiny, prices often exceed several million dollars, and buyers are frequently vetted based on loyalty and ownership history. Even JLR has been getting in on the act with limited edition Range Rovers costing many times more than the mainstream models they are based upon, although prices haven’t hit the stratospheric levels of Lamborghini’s “Few-Off” versions just yet.

According to reports surrounding the launch, Fenomeno Roadster customers were selected from Lamborghini’s most elite collectors. Some reportedly own dozens of Lamborghinis, while others maintain collections numbering in the hundreds of vehicles. Many of these customers attended Lamborghini Arena, where 19 examples of the legendary Miura supercar from the 1960s and early 1970s were in attendance, all customer cars.

This exclusivity allows manufacturers to maintain extraordinarily high margins while creating halo products that reinforce brand prestige. It also gives automakers an opportunity to test advanced materials, hybrid systems and aerodynamic concepts before adapting elements for future production vehicles.

Lamborghini Fenomeno Roadster: Milestone Of Electric Transition

The Fenomeno Roadster arrives as Lamborghini completes one of the most significant transitions in its history. The company has now hybridized all its core model lines, including the Revuelto flagship and the recently introduced Temerario, successor to the Huracán. The Temerario replaced Lamborghini’s long-running naturally aspirated V10 with a twin-turbocharged V8 hybrid system producing more than 900 horsepower.

The Lamborghini Fenomeno Roadster has a uniquiely sculpted rear.

Lamborghini

Together, these vehicles mark Lamborghini’s shift toward electrified performance without abandoning the dramatic styling, theatrical driving experience and extreme outputs that define the brand. For enthusiasts concerned that electrification might dilute Lamborghini’s identity, the Fenomeno Roadster sends the opposite message. Rather than using hybrid technology to soften its cars, Lamborghini is leveraging electrification to create even more powerful and exclusive machines.

At the same time, the car illustrates the increasingly narrow niche occupied by ultra-high-end combustion-based hypercars. With governments worldwide tightening emissions standards and automakers investing billions in EV development, vehicles like the Fenomeno Roadster may represent the final era of electrified V12 exotics before fully electric supercars like the Rimac Nevera and YANGWANG U9 dominate the top tier of automotive performance.

For now, though, Lamborghini’s formula remains unapologetically dramatic: a screaming naturally aspirated V12, reinforced by electric motors, wrapped in carbon fiber and produced in microscopic numbers for the world’s wealthiest collectors. Despite the industry’s broader shift toward battery-electric mobility, the Lamborghini Fenomeno Roadster suggests there is still strong demand for hybrid hypercars that combine electrification with the sensory excess of traditional supercar engineering.
