It's official and as real as it gets. On Thursday, Rockstar Games took to social media and announced the pre-order date for Grand Theft Auto 6. Rockstar also released the official cover art and a new logo.
The developer/publisher also changed the look of its social media profiles to symbolize that the official marketing campaign for the biggest video game release in history has begun. Let's talk GTA.
Pre-orders open on Thursday, June 25 on the PlayStation Store, Xbox/Microsoft Store and at select retailers. While there's no real rush considering the vast majority of units sold will be digital, I wouldn't be surprised to see some websites experience lag while handling the onslaught of pre-orders. That's how fanatical the gaming community has become when it comes to GTA 6.

Rockstar is encouraging fans to wishlist the game on the PlayStation Store or Microsoft Store now to get notified the moment it goes live. Pricing, editions and bonuses still have not been confirmed, which leaves the cost as the biggest open question heading into pre-order day.
The release date hasn't changed. We're still looking at November 19, 2026 on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. A PC port is expected later, but likely not until 2027.
The date has survived two delays from the original 2025 window, and Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick has repeatedly said the game is on track. Opening pre-orders roughly five months out is the clearest signal yet that Rockstar intends to hold the line.
While sparkling visuals have been the main selling point for GTA 6, the cover doesn't lean on that quality. Instead, it goes almost entirely the nostalgic route with a cover that fits nicely with the previous versions of the series.
The official cover art keeps the franchise's collage format, with Lucia and Jason at the center against a pastel Vice City skyline, surrounded by a helicopter, a motorcycle, an alligator and supporting characters. Rockstar paired it with a story synopsis describing the pair as a young criminal couple pulled into a conspiracy that spans the state of Leonida.
Pricing is the next and most obvious step. Pre-orders will go live on June 25, which means fans have to know the pricing by that time. It also stands to reason the third trailer could be released along with the opening of pre-orders. It would serve as the last selling point, as if that's even necessary, for the game.
A third trailer is widely expected around the pre-order date, and it would likely carry the pricing, edition and bonus details fans are still missing. With the cover, the logo and a refreshed social presence now live, Rockstar has clearly entered the final stretch of its campaign.
