Introducing new Slack AI App for Wiz and Bi-Directional S...

As organizations expand their cloud environments, security teams are under pressure to detect and respond to threats faster than ever. As most cloud security tools are typically built for security teams, it is difficult to scale security practices across the broader organization. At Wiz, our mission is to democratize security—ensuring that every team responsible for securing the cloud has the visibility and tools they need, in the most simplified and accessible way. Over 50% of Wiz's active users are outside the security organization, and we’re continuing this work by making it even easier for teams to integrate security into their daily workflows. In most organizations, cloud, development, and SecOps teams rely on Slack as their primary communication platform, so we’re bringing the power of Wiz directly into the tools they already use by expanding our Slack integration.

We’re excited to introduce two key enhancements to our Slack integration:

  • A bi-directional Slack app that enables security teams to manage Wiz Issues and Threats directly from Slack, improving response times and ensuring faster remediation without disrupting workflows.

  • An AI app for Slack, providing AI-powered security insights and guidance to help teams quickly find answers, streamline decision-making, and improve security efficiency.

These updates make it easy for teams to stay on top of security risks by gaining security guidance, investigating issues and threats, and taking action—all without leaving Slack.

A Bi-Directional Slack Integration for Faster Security Response

Wiz already integrates with Slack to send real-time security alerts directly to Slack channels, ensuring teams are notified as soon as an issue arises. With our new bi-directional Slack app, available on the Slack Marketplace, security teams can now take action directly within Slack, reducing context switching and improving MTTR. With this integration, security, cloud, and SecOps teams can manage Wiz Issues and Threats in Slack to:

  • Investigate, assign, and resolve security threats—Wiz Issues and Threats are sent directly to Slack, allowing teams to review risk details and take action without switching platforms. With these new enhancements, Wiz now consolidates all detections related to a single Wiz Threat into a Slack thread, making it easier to investigate threats in one place. Additionally, security teams can now update the threat status directly in Slack, marking it as a “security test” or “planned action” just as they would in Wiz. This integration provides real-time syncing between Wiz and Slack, so you always see the most up to date information both in Slack and Wiz. These improvements streamline threat investigation and resolution, ensuring faster response times and more efficient collaboration.

  • Add context to Wiz Issues and Threats by replying to a security alert in a Slack thread with additional details about a risk or threat. Wiz will automatically update the Issue History or Threat Timeline with your comment, ensuring a complete audit trail. For example, you can use this to document investigation findings, provide remediation updates, or flag dependencies for further review. 

Operationalize cloud security with Slack Bi-Directional Integration

This is how organizations are able to remove siloes and bring security closer to end users with the Slack bi-directional integration:

  • Security Teams – Centralize risk management and reach zero critical Issues by tracking and managing Wiz Issues directly in Slack. For example, security teams can send alerts for Critical Wiz Issues to their cloud security channel, review the alert information, mark its status, and assign an owner, ensuring that critical risk is addressed efficiently without needing to switch platforms.

  • SecOps & Incident Response Teams – Responding to unfolding threats quickly is critical, as speed directly impacts the blast radius. The new bi-directional integration enables SecOps teams to reduce MTTR as teams send Wiz Threats to a dedicated SecOps channel to receive real-time alerts and quickly investigate threats and related detections within Slack threads, and update their status—all within Slack.

  • Engineering & DevOps Teams – Reduce friction in security operations by integrating security findings directly into Slack workflows where developers already work. Send notifications for critical Wiz Issues or for misconfigurations, vulnerabilities, or identity risks that impact their cloud resources to the assigned developer so they can take immediate action or collaborate with security teams to resolve issues.

By integrating Wiz into Slack, organizations can streamline security collaboration by eliminating operational friction and keeping security workflows within existing communication channels, enabling faster response and more efficient teamwork.

Slack AI App for Wiz: Simplifying Access to Security Knowledge

We’re thrilled to launch a new AI app in Slack, bringing security knowledge closer to teams by allowing users to instantly ask questions and receive AI-powered security guidance right within Slack. This helps eliminate the need to search through documentation and enables faster, more informed decision-making. You can easily explore the AI app leveraging the Slack command /wiz for quick actions.

Here are some examples of guidance security teams ask for with the new AI app in Slack:

  • Quickly discover new features – Ask, “What are the latest features added?” to get an instant overview of recent updates with relevant documentation links.

  • Find step-by-step guidance – Ask, “How do I configure notifications?” or “How do I write custom Configuration Rules?” to receive detailed instructions on using Wiz without searching manually.

  • Follow security best practices – Ask, “How can I improve Remediation & Response?” to get expert recommendations tailored to security workflows.

By integrating Wiz’s AI-powered capabilities with Slack, security teams can access real-time security insights and best practices directly in Slack, reducing the time spent searching for answers and enabling faster decision-making. This is the first use case of the Slack AI App for Wiz, with more to come as we continue exploring AI-driven security innovations.

Enhancing Security Collaboration in the Cloud Era

As security teams operate in increasingly fast-moving cloud environments, reducing response times and improving collaboration are critical to maintaining a strong security posture. With these new enhancements, Wiz is making it even easier for security, SecOps, and engineering teams to work together efficiently, reduce risk, and respond to threats in real time—all within Slack.
